*wipes cobwebs off journal*
lol I forgot I had this LJ. T____________T
How's everyone doin. I'm currently really tired but ready to have another crack at animating before my paper runs out. I really enjoy it and I actually feel energized by it rather than worn out like with drawing. Maybe because I don't labour over anything in my animation drawings... if it's wrong, I erase it and redraw it, and every drawing pretty much takes under a minute. I animated about 6 or so seconds worth of my project in an hour (ok so a lot of them are loop and hold shots, but I'm proud of myself! 8);;;)
Like most people I like having music on while I work, and right now I'm addicted to parapara and bubble dance. Oh god why is it so bad. I love it.
Also omfg it's nearly Christmas, FINALLY. This has probably been the longest three months of my life. Three months of dirty kitchens, OMG HOMEWORK, bills, drama llama housemates and homesickness. I really enjoy it here but I can't wait to go home and see countryside for the first time in forever. <3
Here is a milisecond long example of my animation, Youtube is a bastard who cuts off the end to my videos.
Also, something to get into the Xmas spirit: the beautiful and cute 'Tin Soldier', a 1959 Soviet animated short. <3
Ok. Back to work. See you after December 11th! :3

I stoled it from y!... <:3
1. Name (a) film(s) that you have seen more than 10 times (cinema + home). Probably... Castle in the Sky? It's one of my faves. <3
2. Name a film that you’ve seen multiple times in the cinema. I think I saw Ratatouille three times when it came out (once with friends, once with family but the first time there was a fire scare near the end so we got to go and see it again for free. ;))
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a film. Gosh, I don't have many favourite actors. Um, anyone from the Frat Pack I guess.
4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a film. I can't name one so I'll just say pop stars / celebrites who don't act.
5. Name a film that you can and do quote from. Anchorman...? I'M RIDING A FURRY TRACTOR
6. Name a film musical that you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs. Most Disney films, West Side Story, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Carousel, The Music Man, Hello, Dolly!, um... I like musicals. XD
7. Name a film that you have been known to sing along with. All of the above? lol
8. Name a film that you would recommend everyone see. Uuuh... Whisper of the Heart. Really touching and inspiring movie. :)
9. Name a film that you own. Too manyyy...
11. Have you ever seen a film in a drive-in? If so, what? Nope.
14. Ever walked out of a film? I only ever wanted to once but didn't.
15. Name a film that made you cry in the cinema. I don't cry at movies (I have a heart of stone DI)
16. Popcorn? Mm, please, but it has to be toffee popcorn. <3
17. How often do you go to the cinema (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)? Maybe three times a year?
18. What’s the last film you saw in the cinema? Harry Potter (GoF) :/
19. What’s your favourite/preferred genre of film? Fantasy. I love 80's fantasy films especially.
20. What’s the first film you remember seeing in the cinema? Mulan, hehe. I remember going with my childhood BFF, it was so fun. I love that movie just because of that. <3
21. What film do you wish you had never seen? The Horse Whisperer. I saw it as a kid and have never gone from terror to boredom so quickly in my life. (the crash scene at the beginning... ugh)
22. What is the weirdest film you enjoyed? Tremors? I loved it.
23. What is the scariest film you’ve seen? I once saw part of Johnny Got His Gun. I had waking nightmares. Dl
24. What is the funniest film you’ve seen? Some Like It Hot, Anchorman, Zoolander, The Seven Year Itch, The Ladykillers (mm, Ealing comedies)

EEEEEEEE~!!!!!!

My art has been been published in cereal:geek magazine, alongside an article about Inspector Gadget. The publication is a series of nostalgic essays on animation in the 1980's, and is already into its 5th issue! It has a lot of perdyful full page illustrations. I'm gonna get my complimentary copy soon, so I'll make sure to scan in my page. This is so exciting! 83
You can see a preview the magazine and buy it from here: www.cerealgeek.com/issue_05.html

~HIGHLIGHTS OF MY THORPE PARK TRIP~
Standing near the entrance to the station of Colossus. We barely had to queue cause we were the first ones in there! Colossus is more-fun-than-scary coaster but the inversions (especially the corkscrews at the end) make me feel really dizzy... D:

( Pukefest rides and candid shots of guys in costumes )
N.B I didn't actually puke

'Supguyss I have some more art poop
I was up until 1:30am watching episodes of Men in Black: The Series on YouTube. I HAVE A LIFE. I was both in love with and fearful of this show as a kid. It's so dark, way better than Arthur the Aardvark or whatever it was that was always on. It's gross-ness and violence made it memorable for me so I decided to watch it again. The intro credits are so goood~ <3
www.youtube.com/watch
On rewatching it I also thought Agent K was kinda hot. (hello receding hairlined emotionless middle-aged action man fetish).
Um.
'kay I'm going back to my cave now.
Have K and J.

And have a Rupan~~~~
I'm looking forward to having non-corrupted Photoshop so I can actually colour something B( I also realised I can't update me website anymore. D:> I will find a way... somehow? -_____________-

I has a student house internet! :D
I thought I would post up some of my first homework from uni seeing as I'm nearly finished! These designs were for my Animation Skills class which was all about character design and portraying emotions through facial and body language. We had to choose a few generic characters that the teacher called out (i.e school teacher, alien, robot) and develop them. I decided on a caveman, toddler, tramp and another one I haven't decided on yet. B3 The caveman and tramp were really fun but I found the little kid SO difficult, probably since I don't draw young characters that much.

Hey all, how are you doing? :3 I just finished induction week at university which was really cool. I've met a lot of awesome classmates, eaten no lunch and too much pasta, and got lost too many times. So overall it's great! :3 My house internet won't be up until the 24th and I still have to sort out the water bill /sigh but at least I can go home to a warm house, pleasant housemates and fresh laundry (!) I've done tonnes of drawings but I have no scanner or Internet to post them up yet >>; Also I have to buy a light box for around £47 so that should rape my bank account nicely. On the upside the library is orgasmic. They have Wings of Honneamise on VHS! Apparently the animation library here is one of the largest in the country. *browses for hours* Whelp I'm gonna catch the bus home now. Toodles!

After hours of persuasion my laptop now has Photoshop AND my Wacom AND my scanner! Okay so it's a crappy old version of Photoshop Elements but it allows me to scan and clean up drawings. That's all I wanted, and I have it! *delirious laughter* *cough* Arr sorry guys, it's just been a summer of discontent with computers so it's super duper lovely to have something working for a change!
So um... drawings. 8[
( More this'a way~ )

My computer died, and I've been without the Internet for a few weeks. I don't think anyone's noticed my absence, lol ._. But now I have wireless broadband! I'm like a caveman seeing fire for the first time. It's like 'wow, I can sit anywhere and look at the Internet!' This is now possible because I have a laptop! His name is Biggles.
My comp now has no Photoshop or Scanner. I'd finally completed my Sketch Files book and it broke. My files are still there, but I can't do anything with them. I'm hoping I can get a student discount in university... ): Anyway I doubt there'll be any art uploaded from me for a while until I get my scanner and tablet reinstalled *urk*
In the void of netlessness I got a new book! It's a book all about art which specifies in little known artists and paintings. Look whut I found...
CARL. SPITZWEG. I am so sad I did not know about his art sooner. He was a Dutch painter whose real proffession was as a pharmacist. o_o His speciality was painting cute and silly scenes of middle class people enjoying hobbies and pastimes (i.e. insect collecting, mineral collecting, Sunday strolls...)
This painting, The Bookworm, is my absolute favourite...

Can you believe this was painted in 1840? The combination of charicature and realism is so modern!
A big collection of his art: www.reproarte.com/painter/Carl_Spitzweg/index.html I wish I had painter (or talent with oils) so I can try some of this style out.
Also, ICO vs. de Chirico?

I think the choice of art style for ICO is so fitting. I had no idea it was directly inspired by another painting (mind you, my knowledge of 20th century painters is limited...) They totally both have the same 'melancholy and mysterious' qualities about them don't they? ;D
Also I'm having booster jabs tomorrow... halp D:

I played and completed Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil in one day yesterday. I've had it since before high school, and it's so adorable and very Japanese. It's also a really, really easy game. The final boss is so easy it takes you like, two minutes to defeat. But you don't care because it's so gosh darn cute! So here's some very quick drawings of the characters. Klonoa's dressed like a white rapper from the 90's. 8I I love Leorina though! (she's bottom right) Doesn't she just have the coolest design ever?
Also here is my sister's fanart (She's so slow to update LJ so I'll just post it for her) BD
Isn't it wonderful? She also made all the brushes herself! *envies the neatness*
In other news I got my timetable for my first semester yesterday. I THINK I'M GOING TO EITHER EXPLODE OR PUKE NOW.

Ohboy, I found out that the animation class I'm going to be attending was the exact same class of the guy who did Saturday Morning Watchmen! He is now a graduate, apparently! :DDDD Ohmigod university is so close now, I'm really getting nervous. Scholarship essay is almost finished, I'm getting someone to proofread. Went to a family friend's house today, she gave me piles and piles of her daughter's old books. I don't think I'll have time to read them all before she wants them back! I kinda want to meet her daughter; she's like a huge nerd. <3
It's that time again! gffff Powell and Donovan~ I haven't drawn them in ages. Powell is totally the Cogsworth to Donovan's Lumiere. Or something.
 ( More under here~ )
Well, you guys, how are you? :3

Hello lovely people <3
I got a letter today explaining that I've been put forward for a scholarship at the university I'm going to, £1,000 per annum. This is cool. Trouble is that now, in order to be awarded the scholarship, I have to write a 500 word essay explaining what I plan to do when I study there and graduate. And apparently competition is very very high D: I'm trying to write it now and I keep getting distracted
Agh no I am the worst essay writer in history whhyyyy
In other news, art!
( Cut for TF2 gayery *collective groans from the audience* )
Gwargh, I don't know what my aspirations are! D| I can't thinkkkk *breaks keyboard on forehead*

omg something in pencil at last! These are some studies for my latest commission on DA. It has to be of Hellboy and Wolverine. (the client saw my Johann pic and wanted something from Hellboy as well... I'm not complaining! BD) Somehow though I seem to end up drawing dumb things instead of serious things.
